Working out at home is very popular these days. As we learn more about the great health benefits of exercise in general, we automatically feel a greater urge to engage in it.
And besides, it just feels really good. You feel a lot stronger mentally and physically after a good workout!
Despite this, many people are still not very familiar with the concept of home fitness. So, how do you ensure you get started in the right way?
At FITHLON, we have the answers:
#1: Create a fixed home fitness schedule for yourself
A first important tip we always give everyone is to create a home fitness schedule for yourself.
It may sound like a lot of fun to start all of this, but before long, like many others, you'll encounter a problem: motivation. Not everyone is always motivated to work up a sweat early in the morning or after a long day at work.
And to prevent you from only doing it when you "feel like it," it's smart to work with a home fitness schedule.
This might look like this:
· Monday: Early morning 20 minutes of running on the Xfold treadmill, to start the week in the best possible way.
· Wednesday: In the evening after work, 45 minutes of rowing on the Mag Row, for maximum health benefits of cardio and strength training.
· Saturday: Start the weekend right in the morning with another 30 minutes of running on the treadmill.
Of course, this is just an example and can be fully adapted to your personal preferences. There are plenty of people who only want to work out in the morning or only in the evening. Moreover, preferences for favorite exercises also differ.
Avoid relying solely on motivation and create a schedule for yourself to make it as easy as possible to achieve your fitness goals!
#2: Choose 'smart' fitness equipment
As we briefly mentioned in the example schedule above, you do need certain fitness equipment for effective home fitness. It's wise to choose 'smart' options. And by that, we mean:
· Compact equipment: Think of fitness equipment that is so innovative that it takes up minimal space while providing you with a maximum workout. At FITHLON, we have paid specific attention to this. For example, with a product like the Xfold Pro, which is foldable after use. Your fitness equipment will not permanently be in the way but can always be easily stored somewhere.
· Effective exercises: It's also smart to choose equipment on which you can perform the most effective exercises. A good example here again is the Cross Pro. With it, you train your muscle strength and your cardio simultaneously. It has now been clearly proven that this combination is extremely good for your fitness and overall health.
· Silent products: Furthermore, you will find home workouts even more enjoyable when the products you use are virtually silent. Not only for yourself but certainly also for the rest of your family, housemates, and/or neighbors. The quieter a product is, the more long-term enjoyment you will get from it.
· Durable equipment: Finally, when it comes to equipment in this day and age, it is also important to consider sustainability. In terms of lifespan, but certainly also in terms of environmental impact. At FITHLON, we choose equipment made from sustainable, recycled materials, right down to the packaging and manuals!
And it doesn't stop there, because the 3rd tip, in particular, seems very effective for many people.
#3: Do home fitness together
As humans, we are social creatures by nature. We like to do things together. Moreover, we maintain certain activities much longer when we do them together.
Home fitness is the perfect example of this.
When you do this with your housemate and/or partner, there is an even greater chance that you will enjoy it and stick to your schedule for a longer period. Plenty of reasons to embark on this adventure together!
#4: Work with the right nutrition
A fourth and final tip is never to forget to keep nutrition in mind. Especially in combination with more intensive training sessions, it is crucial to ensure you have the right 'fuel' beforehand. Think of carbohydrate-rich foods, especially for cardio training.
And have you had a significant training session? Then your nutrition after the workout is all about recovery. Try to get enough proteins and healthy fats. Also, to get enough calories and maintain that energetic feeling for the rest of the day!
